The Ritz Carlton, Los Angeles Opens at L.A. Live
April 01, 2010
The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles – one of two hotels within the 54-story Hotel & Residences at L.A. Live – is scheduled to open on April 2, 2010, as the first luxury hotel of its caliber in downtown Los Angeles.
Featuring 123 guest rooms, including 14 suites, The Ritz-Carlton occupies floors 22 through 26 of the hotel/condominium tower, which serves as the cornerstone of L.A. Live, the $2.5 billion sports, residential and entertainment district developed by AEG on land adjacent to the Staples Center and the L.A. Convention Center.
Sharing space with the guestrooms are the 8,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa, the only full-service spa in downtown Los Angeles; the 3,400-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge; a 2,000-square-foot fitness center; and WP24, chef Wolfgang Puck’s latest restaurant concept, which is located on the tower’s 24th floor.
MacFarlane Partners invested in the development of the Hotel & Residences at L.A. Live through a joint venture with AEG, one of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world. The firm made the investment on behalf of MacFarlane Urban Real Estate Fund II, its institutional real estate fund that invests in development, redevelopment and repositioning projects in urban and high-density suburban areas nationwide.
In addition to the Ritz-Carlton, the tower also houses an 878-room JW Marriott Hotel (on floors 1 through 21), which opened earlier this year; 224 Ritz-Carlton Residences condominiums (on floors 27 through 54); and approximately 200,000 square feet of ballroom/meeting room space.
The opening of the Ritz-Carlton also marks the completion of L.A. Live. More than 10 years in the making, L.A. Live began development in 1999 with the opening of the Staples Center. Today, it encompasses four million square feet and also features the Nokia Theatre LA. Live, home to the EMMY Awards, the ESPY Awards and the American Music Awards; Club Nokia, a 2,300-seat, live- music venue; the Regal Cinemas L.A. Live Stadium 14 movie theater; 13 restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill; the GRAMMY Museum; and ESPN broadcast facilities; all of which are configured around the 40,000-square-foot, open-air Nokia Plaza.
